Assistant Fisheries Biologist

Job Description:
Incumbent is responsible for assistance in the development, implementation, and evaluation of fisheries research projects in the northern fisheries management region of Indiana. Incumbent assists in conducting research pertinent to the informational needs of the district management biologists, research biologist, regional supervisor, and the fisheries section. Incumbent is responsible for providing technical assistance to district management biologists regarding project design, sampling, and statistical analysis of data. Incumbent assists with plans to conduct fisheries, habitat, and human dimensions investigations, complies and interprets scientific data, and writes reports. Other duties include intermittent employee supervision and public relations activities. Reports directly to the North Fisheries Research Biologist


Preferred requirements are a Bachelor of Science degree in fisheries biology or related field from an accredited college and two (2) years of fisheries related experience OR and accredited graduate degree in fisheries or a related field.
Must hold a valid driver's license with good driving record.
Specialized knowledge of biological principals, ecological variables, and life histories of aquatic communities including fish, plants, and invertebrates.
Specialized knowledge of limnology, ichthyology, fisheries management, and aquatic resource management.
Must be proficient with computer software and operation.
Two (2) years experience in water pollution or aquatic biology plus an accredited four-year degree in a related field OR an accredited graduate degree in a related field.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
